Bridging Research Access Gap,

One Connection at a Time

NV ConnectEd CommUnity

Our Mission

Who We Are

At NV ConnectEd CommUnity, our mission is to bridge Nevada’s educational communities by connecting college students with local and rural K–12 schools, creating a collaborative research & learning network across the state. We democratize knowledge, by moving research beyond academic paywalls and rooting it in early education. We believe, this is where it can make the most lasting impact for generations to come.

Through partnerships with educators, students, institutions, and government, we empower early-career researchers to engage with classrooms and contribute meaningfully to Nevada’s future. Our work now also extends to under-served populations through a newly launched neuroscience and health literacy-based curriculum at a local juvenile justice center. This curriculum is a direct affirmation of our commitment to inclusive and transformative education for all.

Why Our Work Matters...

There is often a disconnect between the cutting-edge research happening in university labs and the educational experiences of K–12 students in Nevada. At ConnectEd CommUnity, we’re working to change that.

Our program brings together faculty, postdocs, and graduate and undergraduate students from Nevada’s colleges and universities to deliver engaging, hands-on STEAM workshops in local and rural K–12 schools. These experiences introduce young students to real-world science, technology, engineering, arts, and math, while also building meaningful connections with researchers in higher education.

For early-career researchers, this outreach offers invaluable opportunities to develop teaching skills, engage with diverse student populations, and make a direct impact in their communities.

By organizing these events, we aim to break down barriers between institutions and age groups, and to create a more inclusive, collaborative, and accessible educational ecosystem. We believe learning should be open, shared, and available to all...regardless of geography or background.
